The Boca da Onça farm is located at the Serra da Bodoquena, in the town of Bodoquena, 300 km far from Campo Grande and 55 km far from Bonito, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
It is located in a plateau with the scarp overlooking the Pantanal, 400 meters above sea level, developed on carbonate rocks.
Dissolution features such as caverns, underground rivers and canyons characterize the relief.
The existence of calcium carbonate dissolved in water along with algae and organic material causes the growing of carbonate material creating the most beautiful and amazing forms. Their many different formats originated the denominations: limestone tufas, travertine, stalactites and stalagmites.
The more life in the rivers the more limestone in the waterfalls. That is why people say: “in the Serra da Bodoquena the waterfalls grow”..
